KING TIDE WEEK - 27 NOVEMBER, 2022

A king tide hammers Shore Acres State Park, along Cape Arago Hwy, Coos Bay, Oregon, at noon on Friday, 25 November.

According to the NOAA-National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a king tide is the popular but non-scientific term used to describe an exceptionally high tide, which happens during a full or new moon when the Moon is at its perigee.

According to the EPA-United States Environmental Protection Agency, the king tide is generally the highest predicted high tide of the year. Photo by Dan Morrison

We are especially mindful of kings for schlepping groceries and big items up the ramp, last night... the difference in high and low tide was exactly 8 1/2 feet !  6 1/2 feet in San Diego, and 30 foot 3 inches in Alaska ! ... about which, "I" have stories !
